Someone in my online writing group shit on a story for "making [his] imagination work too hard" and everyone agreed except for me and the guy who wrote it.

The line that made them all so angry was something like "In the market, men conversed in foreign tongues." Just a completely unimportant background detail but they got legitimately upset at having to fill in the blanks themselves.

I haven't stopped thinking about it since yesterday.
