Not the fag you were talking to but it should be stated that both babylonia and akkadia were within what's called the fertile crescent and stationed around the tigris and euphrates. Another example might be egypt around the nile. To my knowledge, the height of African civilization (that they were able to achieve on their own) was in the empire of Ethiopia. Not exactly sure but it should have been burgeoning enough for cultural contribution.
