Earthsea and Tombs are fantastic. Tombs can almost be read as a stand-alone story. The Farthest Shore is good also.
Since it seems to be under most peoples' radars, the new His Dark Materials book (yes NEW, it's a prequel to the original series, and the upcoming book is set after) is absolutely fantastic YA and just as enjoyable as the original series.

it's fake history dealing mainly with the Targaryens.

Reading pic related currently, not necessarily because I want to but because nothing in my stack looked interesting and I found it for 50 cents at the thrift store. It's very decent, some parts are very typical fantasy stock but the dialogue and story are fairly inventive and surprising at times. Anyone a fan of this series?
