yes, i would definitely focus on the technocapital stuff. in Land's classic framing, he considers any political or social ideology "conservative" if it is *opposed* to technocapital (i.e. the abstract, metaphorical "wants" and "needs" of technology and economic capital). ideologies are liberal or progressive if they favor aligning society and culture with technocapital. i already laid out two examples of arguments for & against (>>13931158), but there are many more, if you take the appropriately meta stance.

like one argument for accelerationism is that it's *new* and relatively novel. most of political ideology these days is the lingering remnants of stuff developed right after the industrial revolution, and is old and creaky. accelerationism is a child of the information age, and so is more optimized for the concepts and dilemmas faced by the modern world. it can generate novel insights and policy suggestions that traditional liberalism or socialism can't even comprehend.

another argument in favor of accelerationism is existential risk. humanity is vulnerable to extinction from various sources (asteroids, pandemic disease etc). only by developing advanced technology and sustainably colonizing space can humanity ensure its long-run survival. this requires social and cultural attitudes towards technology that accelerationism is well-suited to promote.

i really think you need to decide whether to consider the normative aspects of acc (the way the world *should be*) or the positive aspects (the way the world *is). i've been laying out a few arguments for the normative stuff, i.e. "i think we should do xyz stuff, accelerationism says we should abc stuff, so accelerationism is good". but you could also just look at the positive stuff, i.e. "accelerationism has xyz concepts, models and predictions about the world. i think those are wrong and dumb for abc reasons". those are two *completely* different approaches to answering the writing prompt that you should probably figure out.

Becoming a political determinist has actually alleviated a lot of my anxiety about the future. Humanity is going to become extinct within the next two centuries at the absolute most barring divine intervention. Those exponential rates of change always get you the moment after you realize something might be wrong. All that's left to do now in terms of political praxis is pray for mercy

You might want to watch this if you haven't already-

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fp5qeX6hx6Q
(what is accelerating? nick land interview 1997)

In it he talks a bit about 'the future reaching into the past' and what he means by that.
