I'm really curious about the heroes we had in our youth and all the ways they've shaped our later selves. When I look back on the writers and artists and weird individuals I obsessed over as a teen, I just sort of marvel at the way they've shaped me. In my case, I was absolutely mad about Rimbaud and Daumal when I was a teen, and they had such a huge influence on me. Their lives and spirits just seemed so crazily alive and wild to me, and I just really obsessed over them, to the point that, even now, certain of their characteristics and attitudes are firmly embedded in who I am. Personally, I fixated so hard on poetry and poets, magicians and bizarre, kind of, avant garde thinkers and philosophers, that I can't help thinking their fucked up lives have made me who I am, and it's all just so deeply ingrained that even now I find myself sort of looking through their eyes. What about you guys? Who's shaped you? I'm sure we're all madly in love with certain people's lives and biographies....
