When the Hyksos barbarians settled in ancient Egypt, they did so gradually over a number of decades, mostly assimilating into Egyptian culture but bringing many of their own foreign customs with them. The Egyptians saw no reason to suspect a threat, because for them Egypt was the center of the world and a real threat from outside the country was unthinkable. The Hyksos and the Egyptians lived in an uneasy peace for about a century, but by the time the Egyptians realized the Hyksos actually were a threat it was too late. A series of wars ensued whereby the Egyptians expelled the Hyksos under Ahmose I, the first Egyptian Caesar, establishing the Egyptian Roman empire and assuming the title of "Pharaoh", the Egyptian Augustus. We are just 60-70 years into our Hyksos period. Enoch Powell's prophecy is still to be fulfilled.
