My Philosophy knowledge is limited to 11th and 12th grade curriculum's. So I am familiar with the fundamentals of German Idealism, Utilitarianism, Nihilism, and I know a little bit about Existentialism.

Will I understand a single thing in this book?

Has anyone on this god forsaken website actually finished this great work? If so, what was your favorite/most illuminating part? I'm currently on page 190 (out of 500 (Observing Reason). So far the aspects of the work I have found most lucid are his epistemological framework, argument for the necessity of systematicity in philosophy, and critique of subjective idealism. Also feel free to discuss Hegel in general since I can't find Hegelmaxxing anon anywhere and want to post a space for it.

Let's say you are reading Phenomenology for the first time. You come across a passage that you don't get straight away. What do you do?
>accept you'll miss a lot of stuff in your first reading and keep going, leaving your doubts for a second reading
>immediately look it up
>highlight it and look it up later when you finish the paragraph/chapter/reading session
>something else
I've using the first 'method' but I feel the questions that I missed earlier in the book start stacking up and when I reach the middle of the book I'm missing out a lot because obviously the book builds upon itself.
I started reading philosophy a bit more seriously and want to change my approach, but I'm not sure what'd be the best way to do it.
