Not in the mood for reading my book right now. Give me a topic you want to see a guide to and I will research the topic and make the guide for you (like pic related). I'm a pretty well-read and well-rounded person, so I feel like I can do any topic you people request.

Anyone here considers themselves an "occultist"? I'm currently watching a discussion on facebook between an occultist -- or someone who claims to be an occultist -- and some other guy. Discussion is basically about whether or not Joseph Campbell is an occultist or a New Age thinker. I'm not really knowledgeable in either of these two things to be honest, but I was wondering what /lit/ has to say about this.

I thought occultism simply had to do with "hidden knowledge", or mixing together scientific knowledge with 'pseudosciences' like horoscopes and tarot card readings, but the way that this guy is describing occultism sounds more like what I thought New Age meant: basically taking elements from eastern and western religions and combining them together to form a mixed spiritual movement.

The occultist used a few quotes by Joseph Campbell, like "What was proper fifty years ago is not proper today. The virtues of the past are the vices of today. And many of what were thought to be the vices of the past are the necessities of today. The moral order has to catch up with the moral necessities of actual life in time, here and now." and then proceeded to imply this was an 'occultist' type of mindset. Does the quote have anything to do with occultism?
