The West has barely translated the works of Japan, and barely anyone on this board reads in Japanese.

Almost no one here can answer your question with any confidence. If I had to answer your questions, I would just remain skeptical since you yourself are not fluent and don't seem to be well read on the subject.

Not the anon you are referring to but

I don't like how zealot like SJW types tend to be (if what you and I think an SJW is are the same that is) which go the same for their counterparts, stormfags/gamergate/reactionary-whatever

They are zealots who feed off of each other. They need each other to give each other purpose because they so desperately want to feel like they are actually doing something with their lives and feel like they are part of a community.

It's like some tragically massive ghost-possession-death-orgy

You can't be serious.

This is presented so poorly. It's just a skeleton of an idea. Take something sacred and have it treated poorly. You could take any virtue or holy institution or situation and have someone flip a coin considering its fate and have the same thing.

>You can't be serious. They have exactly the same kind of humor. Nichijou could not exist without AzuDai.

>My comparison
>I don't watch that shit so I wouldn't know.

That post was painful to read.

The point of my gundam analogy was that yes, BIG SHOCK, things that are influenced by things that came before are like the things that came before.

They are in a highschool setting with some sci-fi elements thrown in for laughs. How many shows everywhere have this exact same setting? Slice of life, with one or two characters being weird, like an alien or robot.

I mean, why dont you compare Nichijou to cromartie highschool? Cromartie had a robot first in a highschool, so Nichijou is shit right?

Are you going to bitch about nichijou having girls with big eyes next?

I dont even understand how you think this argument is persuasive. Sure you think one is funny and the other isnt. Fine, thats fine. But making some bullshit argument to try and justify your personal preference? Get out.

The conversation was about Athenian women relative to Spartan women.

1) Was this different in Sparta?
2) 3)Yes they did, in Athens women could be citizens. It was not based on sex but blood. What they couldnt do was vote. There is archaeological evidence of Athenian priestesses talking before political assemblies, signing official documents with their own seal

Wait, so is this the actual work in progress?

Or is this just some version that has been perverted?

Is it still a work in progress?

Why are these books so cheap?

Is there something wrong with them besides aesthetics?

I wonder if I didnt say that clearly enough, or if you havent experienced what Ive experienced. Anyway, ill get into a specific.

First day of a summer class at university. Its a writing course. We have to get into to groups for a minute to get to know some people in the course. Somehow the Plath and the Bell Jar gets brought up.

This gets me excited since we werent talking about books a minute before, and I was very bored. Also, I had just finished reading that book a few days before.

I didnt like it very much. Some people had told me that it was the female version of Catcher, which im pretty fond of. So I gave it a shot, and didnt like it, specifically how Esther is very vapid, mean, doesnt seem to make much development, and nothing too interesting happens to her. Plus the writing style wasnt that great.

I bring this up in what, I thought, was a nice way to bring it up. A girl in the group gets flustered and defends the book, saying its one of her favorite books, and saying I dont understand it because Im not a girl.

This gets me even more excited. I had considered that while I was reading the book, but now I had someone to talk about with.

I ask her several questions about Esther, and the girl cant remember anything about the book, gets very embarrassed, and trys to make the conversation about how mean I am to not just let her be right. No one else in the group finds this strange.

This all happened in a few minutes. A few weeks later we became acquainted.

Well, first my eyes dilate. I get sweaty palms. The hairs on my neck stand up. Then I slip into some kind of existential crisis panic attack and roll in the floor like a coked up panda.

But if you wanted a helpful answer, I can't help you man.

Actually, what other ghost stories are worth mentioning /lit/?

The Turn of the Screw was ok, and Poe is ok, but nothing really touches Hamlet
