What 5 books would you bring to the end of the world?
HARD MODE: No survival books

I've watched as the consoomer lifestyle fucked up my friends, and made them mindless drones who just repeat shit they hear and consume mindless media. But then I began to wonder, what is some meaningful media? I have a lot of time on my hands and about 160 dollars canadian. I want some nice, meaningful hobbies, and books about learning these hobbies. My interests are the same as most of you, STEM shit, brain teasers, and general stuff like that. I also like growing mushrooms, if that helps (to eat, not to get high)

>tfw OP is probably not very intelligent but this causes you to feel sympathy for him

OP just look this stuff up on Google, it's not hard to find undergrad and graduate-level papers on any of those texts. Also, no, you are not allowed to post porn on /lit/.

Do you suppose you could write a scholarly analysis of Pedobear's gradual transformation into Spurdo, and then Gondola? Is there something deeper going on with that than the mere transformation of memes?

I feel like I've passed some kind of nadir. I'm not just physically alone, but am now completely estranged from everyone who used to be my friend. It feels a lot less distressing than I imagined it would, the journey here watching all those relationships slowly drift apart or crumble spectacularly was infinitely worse. And now I am alone, very truly alone. But there's still the sun on my skin and nice coffee to drink and chinese cartoons to watch, so maybe things will be okay yet.

I don't obsess over my oneitis anymore and have moved on to a degree but I still miss her and consider the time I spent with her to be the best of my life. I do not think I will have that kind of innocent infatuation with someone ever again.

Books for this feel?

I miss having her and smiling all day just because of her texts and spending the evening jamming out to the music she recommended me and discussing the books I recommended her and talking about films and our dreams and the hikes we were going to do and laughing at the ridiculous outfits we wore for our youthful defiance. I miss the spring.

>tfw scholar, writer and poet
>tfw /lit/ is the closest thing I have to a group of peers who love literature as much as I do

I wish I could find a city where artists were flocking. I would love to find the equivalent of the Lost Generation in Paris or the Beat Generation in San Francisco. I wish I could find people who loved to read and loved to create that I could meet with in person, because nothing ever really replaces face-to-face human interaction.

The city state was the peak of Western civilization and I refuse to hear otherwise. Everyone who isn't a fucking total pseud should be politically involved, attempting to increase the sovereignty of their community and developing an identity distinct from the national one, which in many cases (eg, the united states) doesn't even fucking exist beyond vague platitudes.

More thoughts on travel, I'm wondering if people tend to idolize it because they lack the "artists vision" for lack of a less-pretentious phrase. Meaning that they for whatever reason don't experience the subliminal aspects of life, or at least only do fleetingly and without much comprehension. Traveling and the cultural traits attached to it may help bring out or act as a substitute for aesthetic attunement.

Yeah that's probably true. Fuck even watching movies is improved infinitely by making it a social occasion.

>>11638143
I thought I had somewhat avoided that by being self aware enough to avoid touristy shit, hanging out with locals, etc, but perhaps I'm just too mired in ideology to realize the nature of my actions.

Usually when I see a meme I would smirk slightly. Like it is a bit funny image. But when I see Gondola I feel this odd calming feeling. Gondola only has two legs and is quite weird. There's this strange stoic loneliness when it comes to seeing Gondola. Pic related he's in the middle of the water looking at a duck toy. It is raining and I wonder how could he survive without arms. But yet he just stares at the duck with the same expression. Like it never bothers him and the more I watch the picture my heart gets calmer.
