What will the history books say about 21st century imageboards? Will the obscuration of time shroud them in mystique? You can certainly dress them colorfully; a digital underground of undesirables, extremists, hackers, perverts, and rogue academics, from which sprang forth a hacker collective, a minor political movement, and a major terrorist attack. Ideas otherwise considered taboo are discussed freely. Mainstream news outlets have given special attention to demonize imageboards and their users. Will next century's teenagers lament being born in the wrong decade and unable to take part in the 21st century digital underground? Or will the whole affair be remembered as an embarrassing anime convention for manchildren?

I'm too cowardly to commit suicide but I often think about suicide "via exile". Sell everything and move to a third world country. Stretch my savings as long as I can until I'm forced to live a subsistence lifestyle or become a street urchin. Eventually die.
