Holy shit, OP. This is really good. You have what it takes to actually write instead of just shitpost this delicious material. Anyways, I salute.

This question has probably been asked a million times, but what's the best book for learning Latin?

I know about Wheelock but when I saw the physical book in person once, I admit it was one of the ugliest books I've ever seen and so I refuse to use it. Books that square and fat shouldn't be allowed to be published.

Then there is Lingua Latina, which strikes me as a better option, but there seem to be a million extra texts to buy for it. I don't know what's necessary to buy for it. I look with skepticism at programs that divide up the product into only 6 payments of 20$.

Is there a nice, aesthetic, not-a-fucking-meme Latin book around? I want something compact that'll teach the language without all the fucking mindless filler. Something professional for a serious student.

Thanks, anons. A salute for you.

I think you're just smart, pal. Most people aren't smart. All my comments have been with the average man in mind. That said, actually explaining how you knew or came to know the meaning of the three words I mentioned was very autistic. lol

I might be overestimating the number of words one should know in order to comfortably read a classic; that said, A House Divided is 20th century literature. I think it's fair to say 16th century literature is on another level as far as vocabulary goes.

All in all, I think we have only a slight difference of opinion. I'd like to argue further but I actually want to read now. Take my virtual handshake and have a good day, anon. You're not too bad.
