If you know your times tables, it's pretty easy to figure out that 70*7 is 490. But would Judean peasants in the First Century, using Greek numerals if they were literate at all have been able to know this?
I've heard it said that "seventy times seven" is just a poetic way of saying "infitinite" times, but I wonder that simple calculation would really have been uncountable to that audience.
