What book would you recommend to someone who failed at life and desperately wants to be free of addiction? I feel like theres no hope for me because im such a fucked up person. I do things like self harm and have been hopping from addiction to addiction since i was like 14. I feel like two years of therapy made me worse. saying things like "everybody gets anxious and sad, some more than others, you just need to get used to it" or how I'm just a negative person makes me think why even bother? if no matter what i do ill be miserable most of the time why should i even do anything? the world is an irredeemable cluster fucks of back stabbers whining that their backs are bleeding and im apparently just a miserable fuck. if neither of these things will change why do anything? i dont even do things for fun anymore. if i go for a walk or partake in some hobby i just think "this is useless, you know unhappiness is your default state".

No religious books please unless they have a convincing argument. not like "as soon as you believe everything will turn out better than you can imagine for you and worse than you can imagine for everyone you hate no matter what." or any other variation on consciously deluding yourself bringing inner peace. unless its some god exists because of this set of facts or logical arguments im not interested

I go to the worst university in Wisconsin. It is full of rednecks and since everyone gets in it is highschool 2.0. I wish I wasn't poor and tried a little harder in highscool.
