What is the purpose of metaphysics? Its one of the main reasons I've never bothered reading people like evola; just seems like bullshit

Do people really not know that materialism is a metaphysical stance? To have such blind faith that what one perceives is an accurate representation of an external 'objective' reality independent from mind? For a group of people that largely prides themselves on 'not falling for dogmas or superstition' they seem ironically satisfied with mere conjecture when it comes to this (with a conclusion that they, one could say, dogmatically cling to).
I've seen countless times now, materialists who simply cannot wrap their head around this fact. They like to think it is some sort of indisputable truth, that science has somehow proven a metaphysics (materialism) to be true.
