Over describing immaterial aspects become tedious. Provide a reason for the descriptions. But I can understand if you are setting the scene or tone, but not everything needs such descriptors. Scene setting or tone/atmosphere can and possibly requires it. But not every single item/aspect needs it. And when you do, it's just within the sentences and not exactly multiple sentences, providing a reader an overall sense of why the descriptors are needed. Mix it up, and save the reader's time; banking it to use that time for some meat and bones of what really needs the emphasis.

I will read the whole book on my laptop (phone fagging it now), but the first several pages made me write the above.
