That might depend Hobbes Postulates that the soul is simply animus, movement, and he notes that in a number of cases when the bible says his soul was taken away or that life was breath into him it meant either the lack of animus or the presnce. one can find a similiar idea in the koran where creatures are lifeless until God breaths life into them and which point they can move about. Going by that rubric Robots as long as they were self animating could be considered as having souls. Of course if the soul is not in fact animus and rather a enternal metaphysical sprite that resides in a fleshy shell(cell) we must first define the function of the soul in its cell(would human being without a soul be the same as one with one or would they lack certain functions) from hence could we extrapolate that a robot possessing all the functions reserved for the human soul must itself posses a soul.
