The early stuff was great, became a chore to read later on though. The ending was satisfying at least.

Croaker looks like that? Or is that supposed to be old Croaker? I was under the impression that at the start at least he was at least somewhat handsome.

This artist makes Lady looks too young in my opinion. On the flip side they captured what I imagine Croaker's appearance to be pretty spot on though.

It's pretty good. At least the beginning is, the series just slogs on after a while though. It's also one of the rare examples I can think where the protagonist gets an evil waifu.

It's alright at the beginning, but then it just drags on by the end of the series. Still, I liked it for what it was.

Just started rereading the first Black Company book, and I forgot just how comfy it was. Just a bunch of mercenary bros fighting and pillaging their way across the countryside. I like the newer books, but the first is just comfy.

Can you guys recommend anything with that same sort of feel? I also picked up King’s of the Wyld on a whim, so I’m hoping that’s not terrible.

>be some guy past your prime
>spend most of your life along side a company of degenerates acting as the physician and annalist
>end up having two powerful sorceresses who also happen to be gorgeous as fuck fighting over you
How did he do it?

I love the series so my own bias would tell you yes. That said the charm of the series can wear off as you get into the later books.

How old is Croaker supposed to be anyway? The books span across approximately 40 years right? So I'm guessing he's in his forties at the start and in his eighties by the end?

They didn't exactly get a happy ending. But given the overall tone of the series in general, it was the best they could probably get.
