Lads I know this is autistic as fuck, but I'm seeing some underlying patterns that might make apparent why ASOIAF/GOT (the books, at least) are so popular amongst normies:

>Multiple characters are mentioned to have hair dyed in unnatural colors
>A lot of female characters that, despite being shit, still seem to attract a large fanbase because women
>Correlations between otherkinnery bullshit and skinchangers
>8th-grade level social commentary on religion
>9th-grade level perception of the middle ages
>A very "racially diverse" setting, summer islanders and all
>Sex is pervasive in the books to the point it's fucking absurd

As stated previously, all this stuff is "trendy" in the mainstream and these elements (which I haven't enumerated completely in my post) make this book's universe more relatable to a normie that has never touched another fantasy book in his life, hence the success of the setting.

Am I just overthinking things?

I unironically believe Warhammer Fantasy is a nice setting with pretty deep lore.
