I saw some statistic where the people that work in publishing are overwhelmingly women. Even if it's not a (((plot))), there is a negative feedback loop...novels don't get published unless there's potential for female readership...men largely ignore female-oriented novels...publishers believe that men are an unprofitable market and double down on female books.
