Reminder that the 4th book of Terra Ignota comes out in September. I'll reread the series in preparation. The author has a phd in history from Harvard and a special interest in philosophy.
She's an actual intellectual sperg, like Bakker if he was a fujo, not one of these YA authors who have a degree in bullshit and write like your average instagram whore.

The Italian Renaissance is a great moment for approaching this question because at that point the ideas about science, religion and the world which had developed in the Middle Ages suddenly met those of the ancient world, reconstructed from rediscovered sources. All at once many beliefs, scientific systems and perceived worlds clashed, mixed and produced an unprecedented range of new ideas all at once, which in turn shaped the following centuries and, thereby, our current world.
