Anyone read this?

I read the first book and quite enjoyed it.
The second book starts where the first left off but I'm 50%+ through it and it is mostly padding and not much is happening. There have been a couple of minor things but nothing major, it has mainly been a bout the characters bonding and discussions between themselves.

Does it pick up because I'm thinking of dropping it.
