Thomas Ligotti's Teatro Grottesco caused a put-down, which is very rare for me. Its vague "horror" (Clowns, puppets, carnivals, rusty tricycles etc. are not horrifying) was so utterly boring, and the language refused to actually state or confirm anything. It was loaded with possibly, maybe, perhaps, could, may, etc. to the point that the characters were really saying nothing. Also, dat repetition. Entire sentences/paragraphs repeated and added onto constantly throughout what I read. I made it about 150-180 pages deep before I just said fuck this shit. Very disappointed, because I really want to find a horror book that is good, but haven't yet.
