God damn this book.

How the hell can the whale possibly serve as a metaphor for anything, when there are literally 30 pages in the middle of the book dedicated to describing and classifying whales?

There are certain passages that are completely engrossing and beautiful, but there are other sections of the book that make me put it down and feel like I never want to read anything else ever because it's so tedious and annoying.

Damn, that cover is really inspired. I like it.

Since we're throwing in artist covers that aren't actually of real editions, here's this magnificent beast.

Is Chapter 119, The Candles, of Moby-Dick the single greatest chapter in literary history?

How much more are you willing to pay for a book with a nice cover? I find myself spending up to £5 extra per book just so I can have the copy I think looks nicest. Then once I finish them I never look at them again.

That book--you know the one: the book that you keep coming back to.

The one that keeps coming back to you.

Pic related; it's mine.
