Possible unpopular opinion: I really don't like how Gene Wolf switches to mini-stories midway through books.

It worked sometimes in Book of the New Sun (Jonas story I enjoyed, but goddamn did the plays drag on), but it completely killed my interest and momentum in The Fifth Head of Cerberus. Anyone else feel this way?

I do love those weird philosophical endings, and things do generally go to shit after you fall in love; but what I liked about Stars was the way the book explored the problem of how a genuinely superior individual managed to endure and navigate a tecnologicall advanced but deeply mediocre society. Our own problem, is it not? Lem's answer--to love one of its members--was not a full answer, you're right. But just posing the question raised it (dare I say) light years above novelized video-game carnage-cum-sjw-icing that passes for sf nowadays.

Remember Stapledon's Star Maker? Now that was sf.

My younger brother won't read more than 5-10 pages of a book before dropping it for something else.

How do I get this fuck to read more?
