Reading this series right now, after the big hype over HBO, and I'm disappointed.

It basically just reads like the same old predictable fantasy shit, except trying to be edgy with incest and abuse and shit. It's not "unique", if you've read a historical novel or read any other fantasy, most of this is shit you've read already.

Don't believe the hype.

You read Song of Ice and Fire because it was spammed in the fantasy threads. You thought about reading Mein Kampf because you'd heard it was deep and edgy from /b/. You read The Dark Tower because steampunk made weird westerns cool again. Tycho told you or your webcomic reading friends to read The Name Of The Wind and so you did. You'll be reading Under The Dome soon.

Instead of picking something up "because I've heard of it", why don't you choose your own books? Like chewing one's own food it's an important step towards one day reaching adulthood.
