Oh, and I once dreamt I killed a young woman with a Japanese traditional knife, in a Japanese home during an autumn night. Just stabbed her to death repeatedly with many quick movements and driven by anger, with clenched teeth. She had the same hair colour as my mother, but that's where the similarities end I guess.

Not him, but as far as I can tell the use of drugs isn't really the difference between cognitive psychology, for example, and psychoanalysis. I mean both require actual therapy alongside medication. Maybe one favors medication more than the other, but that's about it. Still, my knowledge on the subject is quite limited.

But it is kinda weird how psychoanalysis, especially lacanian one, spread. I don't know the history of it, but it seems most of the world favors cognitive psychology or some form of it for treatment.

The other two songs ("No way out... To be continued" and "No way out... Continued") would take even longer to explain. I'll do so if people are interested, but for now I'll just say that they are inspired by Orwell's 1984, but described in Lacanian images.

The first one (To be continued) describes an obsessive neurotic's dialogue with the embodiment of the master signifiers that he lost (the song starts with a "master's discourse", the neurotic answers, the master speaks again forcing him into an obsessional pattern). The cracks and wounds Bruce mentions are the gaps in phenomena, the window (made of armored glass) is the screen the obsessive puts between him and the world (how he sees the world) and putting flowers on the rocks is the obsessive's desires that confuse and scare the obsessive (so he can and probably will fall in love for example, but doesn't know how to react to it and would rather run from the object of his desire, yet the desire returns time and time again to haunt him).

The second one describes a manic-depressive's struggle from depression to the manic episode in which his previous state is of little consequence and feels like he holds the absolute truth, but then he falls back into the depressive state (he actually returns to his normal self, but this is seen as a "fall from grace", starting a new depressive episode) where he asks his mother to suffocate him (in Lacanian psychoanalysis the subject's symbolic and imaginary separation from the mother's body has to go well or else he risks developing a form of psychosis later in life).

I'm not an expert on Lacan (*understatement*) and all of this probably seems like gibberish for both one that has no idea what I'm talking about and for a psychoanalyst.

Well I didn't mean that I want a job in the field, but rather that I'm interested in what other fields would hire philosophy majors.

I still have plenty of questions if you're interested OP.

1) In Freud castration starts with the absence of the penis that girls notice (unless I got that totally wrong), does that still apply to Lacan or did he move away from that entirely?

2) Could a hysterical neurosis turn into an obsessional one, or a neurosis to turn into psychosis, etc. or are the symptoms "set in stone" according to how the three childhood complexes developed?

3) I've been told psychosomatic diseases (eczemas and the like as far as I understood) are different from the three traditional categories (neurosis, psychosis, perversion). Does Lacan say anything about those? Because from what I understood it sounds they sound like they would go under hysterical neurosis.

4) While we're on the subject, isn't perversion a type of psychosis? Are they just similar or are there differences that justify three types of diseases rather than just two (neurosis and psychosis)?

I hope you have the patience to go through these OP and sorry if I asked about things not covered in Lacan, I haven't had the time to go through most of his texts yet. Thanks!

Are you implying that I already formulated an interpretation without posting it or that simply recognizing something as possibly being a freudian slip is enough to constitute an interpretation?
