>"You get a long boring letter saying 'I challenge Mr. Hitchens to a standup contest with this bull-dyke I know in Portland Oregon who does a great standup routine.' Well, that's not getting the point, is it dear?"

I really wish that he wasn't primarily known for his association with the 'New' Atheism, because his other stuff is just SO MUCH BETTER.

>tfw he was one of the greatest debaters of all time
>tfw he could have even triumphed over people like Cicero and Demosthenes
>tfw he's dead

;_;

At least he's in heaven debating with all the great philosophers.

Any comments or thoughts about The Hitch? I'm over half-way through 'Hitch-22' and was wondering: Are there other people like this? Other memoirs covering these kinds of topics, events, places, and opinions?

It's great, and yet. Wasn't smart enough not to kill himself, was he.

I hope y'all read Hitchens' counter-attack. It's actually Hitch at his most restrained.

>For quite some time, in fact, the whole anti-Bush "narrative" involved something rather like collusion with the evil Bin Laden crime family, possibly based on mutual interests in the oil industry. So guilty was Bin Laden, in fact, that he was allowed to prepare for a new Pearl Harbor on American soil by a spineless Republican administration that had ignored daily briefings on the mounting threat.
