Is the "children have the capacity to know their gender/sexual orientation" a precursor argument to a bigger wave of "children have the capacity to consent to sex"?
On another note I noticed things went from LGBT to LGBTQ+ alphabet soup shortly after an NPR program that interviewed a gender fluid tranny who would switch back and forth between feeling as a man or woman. Even during the interview the tranny felt the switch and described it.

In retrospect I think this was the moment alphabet soup entered the milieu. This tranny found a way to further differentiate himself from all the other non-normative sexual identities, he made himself novel and above the rest in how special and unique his experiences were. The floodgates then opened.
