Clement of Alexandria (d. 215 AD) writes that early Christian women were required to cover their body and faces similarly to with a burqa:

Why was this ancient Christian rule lost only to be recovered by Islam? It puts doubt into my mind about whether the Christian faith as it has been passed down is accurate to that commanded by Jesus. What if Islam is correct? I know no Christian woman would ever submit to this today as they are at their best crypto-feminists who would hold that it is fully the responsibility of the man to not to succumb to temptation from a woman. The situation reminds me of how quickly the Christian church also fell into making visual idols and praying to human persons rather than to God alone.
