>You can argue that Patroclus and Achilles in the Iliad did not have a homosexual relationship
This is a misnomer. The argument is that Achilles and Patroclus were gay: they engaged exclusively in homosexuality, spoke in a specific falsetto register with specific vocabulary, and attended Pride Parades while wearing rainbows. Each of these claims is false, and all but the first can be ignored outright.

Achilles and Patroclus fucked women. We know, because Achilles is there with his son, and we're told by Homer that both fucked ludicrous numbers of women and had insatiable sexual appetites for women. When Achilles and Patroclus slumber, they do so in separate rooms, with a third room in between them, and the doors closed. Achilles sleeps with his sex slave (admittedly, after Patroclus is dead), who, we are told by Patroclus (who, admittedly, could have been lying) he intended to marry.

Yes, baudy playwrites wrote baudy plays making them in a sexual relationship to be edgy, and yes, ancient theologians and priests got super butthurt about this because in Ancient Greece the popular conception of these men was that they were not in a sexual relationship, but that's really irrelevant to the argument because in Homer, they are not in a sexual relationship. If they were, where's the evidence? Because they are two dudes who show up in the same story? It's fujoshit fanfiction at best, delusional at worst.

> Perhaps the horn I had was not big enough for you for I remember that you bent down to my face and murmured tenderly ‘Fuck up, love! fuck up, love!’
Well his own insecurities about his penis influenced Ulyssess at least. He spent a great amount of time with the Jewish diaspora, wrote most of his books about Ireland living without. He critiques the roman Catholic cultural milieu at the time which is even more reason he got on with his Jewish publisher friends.

I enjoy Dubliners. It was straightforward and I like the 'slice of life' feel of early 20th century Europe.

He does a good job of capturing Job's experience as the elaborate process of making bread. Neat stuff.
