Crime and Punishment is structured to follow the events of the Resurrection of Lazarus. You see Raskolnikov die in spirit and perspective, and he is then resurrected in the epilogue and everything ends happy and good.

Demons is structured to follow the Exorcism of Legion. Jesus comes upon a man possessed by many demons. The demons have taken full control of the mans body and speak for him. They wretch in loathing, disgust and terror at Jesus and request to be cast into a herd of swine rather than be destroyed. Jesus exorcises them into the swine, which then stampede into a lake and drown themselves.

Demons is a book about a city full of Raskolnikovs running around everywhere and wrecking things.
