This book is stupid.

This book is actually pretty arrogant and mean-spirited.

Our main character gets sent from 19th century America back to 10th century Britain and proceeds to whine about how stupid, illiterate and unhygienic everyone is.

Yeah, obviously technology advances as time progresses. If someone from the 30th century got sent back to the 19th century I'm sure they'd say the same thing about people from the 19th century. What's Mark Twain's point?
