These are actually valid points, too. In Ancient Rome, the Galli were a retinue of eunuch priests who revered the goddess Cybele and imitated and served Attis, the mythological deity who castrated himself.

In Russia, you had the Skoptsy, a heterodox Christian sect who practiced castration of men and mastectomy of women as an extreme statement against sexual desire and attachment to the flesh.

Of course, you have the Amerindian two-spirits always brought up, too, a social role which accepted men taking on womanly roles or women taking on manly roles...

The human condition is complex, don’t get me wrong. I’m not a full-on biological essentialist. For reference, >>19291889 I wrote this post. I still think you’re willfully naive if you just see it as kids playing dress-up, and turn a blind eye to the botched transgender surgeries and transgender regret. Transgender regret. Naive kids in liberal school districts (e.g. California) regretting hormones and surgery because they were going through a phase, told it was very simple and what was best for them, and they legally didn’t need their evil, bigoted parents’ consent for it.
