But, my friend, a statue is fundamentally inert, and only takes on life in the eye of the beholder, it has no real action, no real meaning. We can look at it from our vantage point in the future and observe it in its act of storming a beach or lifting a boulder with idealized, fully-flexed shoulders, but all of that was in the past, done and finished, and what we see is only that act perpetually frozen in time, devoid of all vigor. Also, Junger wasn't a fascist.
