Astrid Lindgren and HC Andersen
Alot of their stuff is really sad and depressing, but it really made a impression on me as a child, and made me think and ponder about things such as grief, death and loneliness. It's a good introduction for children for the heavier side of life (there will be crying tho, so make sure to talk with them about it and help them process it)

I can't remember, but only children's books makes me cry. Both as a child and now.
Idk, theres a honestly, rawness, innocence and empathy (and the illustrations of course) in them that adult /lit/ don't have, or tries to hard at.
Maybe its a nordic childrens's literature thing
