You know how in fantasy stories there are hordes of orcs, goblins, undead, etc. that are hellbent on pure destruction, leaving nothing that is good and sacred standing?

They exist in people as psychological states. They're essentially closed to any higher understanding and will stop at nothing to see their inner desolation reflected in the world around them.
