Does anone know how many standard word pages written in times new roman (12) goes to a page of a paperback? Or the other way around?
Most paperbacks I have are 300-400 pages but how many pages in word would that equal?

Just had a prof tell me that he felt most kids apply to a science program since it's become the academic Zeitgeist of this era, and that once that dies out, there will be a rise in the arts and humanities.

I was pretty stunned and just walked away. What do you guys think?

Hey /lit/. Is anyone here on /lit/ going on Halloween as a book character or as something inspired by a book?

A book I remembered from when I was in junior high has been invading my thoughts recently and I'd like to read it again. Problem is, I don't remember the name of it, As that was 8 years ago. So I was hoping that maybe if I listed off what I remembered from the book, That some1 might know what I'm talking about. Here its goes.

1. The story starts off with the young protagonist going off on a week long camping trip by himself because of mommy issues from what I think I remember. He stumbles upon something that takes him to another planet of some sorts.

2.The sky is red and there is strange vegetation on the planet. Environment is very hostile and there are animals hunting him.

3. He befriends a monkey type thing somewhere along.

4. And he meets the indigenous people of the planet and lives among them for awhile.

After awhile said and done he goes back to where he first entered the planet, Meets back up with his monkey friend. Something about sinking sand, And he gets struck by lightning or something and gets back to his own world.
