“Say brother, I realized something today”

“What would that be brother?”

“As regards to the craft, meaning art, I found death to be its ultimate expression.”

“Why that’s quite the shocking statement brother. Death is indeed an expression of the craft but I have no reason to believe it is the ultimate expression of it. Perhaps you could illuminate me on this.”

“It is good we share some common ground brother. Let this be the fertile soil from which truth will grow. Now brother, could you point to an expression of the craft higher than death?”

“Well before that, answer me this, brother. Do you consider death to be the highest because it is—as we perceive it—the last expression of art?”

“Quite rightly brother.”

“So how do you discern which expression of the craft is life and which one is death? Isn’t death looming over all of us at every moment?”

This question gave the man a jolt, as he had quickly realized, “you are right brother. With your help, I have found an error in my reasoning. Death is that which can and will come at any moment. To say death is the highest form of the craft is to say the same of life also. If I had not pondered over this issue with you, my brother, I would be hanging from a tree right about now—thinking myself to be the ultimate artist!”

“Haha, what a blunder that would have been brother.”

“Hahaha, what a blunder indeed…”

The average modern first worlder is more philosophically and scientifically enlightened than Plato and Aristotle.

I just read Aristotle's Nichomachean Ethics book one and two and would like to know what was human nature for Aristotle?
