The more obstinately you persecute the lowly Id, the longer you starve and flagellate it: A warcry, equivalent to " No! I reject your orders, animalistic inner demon! I will resist to the bitter end your stranglehold on my otherwise pristine humanity! You do not belong in my mind!"; Then eventually, the more bearable and beautiful the agonizing path of your existence... the greater authenticity and individuality as a Human you achieve.

Freedom from being so character-driven in every single respect. Modern fantasy is basically "unless you've sold the readers on your characters in the first 50 pages your book is garbage" and that seems to be the primary reason why so many can't get into genre classics. Modern authors worship characters to a point of being fetishistic.
