Can we have one of these? I think they would tidy up the board since so many questions here, well, do not deserve their own thread.
Here's my question: my environment at home is really noisy and I can't stand it anymore. I'm thinking of buying noise-cancelling earmuffs. Has anyone here used them for reading/studying? Are they uncomfortable?

why are women like this?

>It is my suggestion to encourage healthy debate regarding lesbian bukkake. I feel as if, though it is not necessary to wade into the 'urine or no debate', we should approach the matter of fair descriptive reference and give those who do activate their skene's gland their dues and put to the rest the issue of 'but it's interchangeably mixed!' to bed. We know it comes out of the vagina not the urethra. Refinement of liquid via tissue filtration may cause a problem for some who smell with their brains sometimes but it's a mind over matter kind of deal.
>Belief that women are pissing on each other misses out on the fundamental form of life and the pre-existing properties from when it was ejaculated.

Why in the world would you waste years of your life pursuing an MFA when the field is absolutely packed with brainless hacks, rendering the credential all but meaningless?

Story time
>Several years ago in Uni
>STEM major but taking a course on Grimm's Fairy Tales to fulfill culture requirement
>Discussion segments of class are usually professor led, today he is out so the TA is running things.
>Come to discuss one of the assigned stories, I forget the exact story but it has something to do with some girl staying at her uncle's place or something and him telling her not to open the red door.
>Uncle leaves and ofc bitch opens the red door, finds some horrifying shit i dont remember
>"Okay class, so in terms of symbolism what are some themes we might be able to take away from this tale?"
>Raise my hand so I can contribute early on and not get called on later
>"Well perhaps the red door is meant to represent the hidden, darker side of humanity, that people are capable of doing and concealing terrible acts."
>TA replies to me verbatim: "Haha wow so deep bro"
>Class full of lib-art hoes and proto-soys busts out in laughter

I never contributed to discussion in that class again. What is wrong with Academia where this sort of blatant and toxic disregarding of people's ideas is acceptable in an open forum? Even if someone was just flat out wrong in a stem class the TA would politely steer them in the correct direction. Any respect I had at that point for the academic institutions authority over literature was lost that day.

Feel free to share your own tales of the degeneration of academic institutions

Death is a personal matter, arousing sorrow, despair, fervor, or dry-hearted philosophy. Funerals, on the other hand, are social functions. Imagine going to a funeral without first polishing the automobile. Imagine standing at a graveside not dressed in your best dark suit and your best black shoes, polished delightfully. Imagine sending flowers to a funeral with no attached card to prove you had done the correct thing. In no social institution is the codified ritual of behavior more rigid than in funerals. Imagine the indignation if the minister altered his sermon or experimented with facial expression. Consider the shock if, at the funeral parlors, any chairs were used but those little folding yellow torture chairs with the hard seats. No, dying, a man may be loved, hated, mourned, missed; but once dead he becomes the chief ornament of a complicated and formal social celebration.

-John Steinbeck

All along the south coast of Cape Wrath rose crumbling stone watchtowers, raised in ancient days to give warning of Dornish raiders stealing in across the sea. Villages had grown up about the towers. A few had flowered into towns.
The Peregrine made port at the Weeping Town, where the corpse of the Young Dragon had once lingered for three days on its journey home from Dorne. The banners flapping from the town’s stout wooden walls still displayed King Tommen’s stag-and-lion, suggesting that here at least the writ of the Iron Throne might still hold sway.
