Everyone seems to be a smart & functional human being without ever having picked up a book outside of an educational setting

I just had this epiphany. We really are insignificant in the grand scheme of things. As the only intelligent life in the universe we've accomplished so much yet none of it matters. Every piece of literature written in glory and triumph was done so in vain. If we went extinct tomorrow all of it would evaporate
