Why would frame the question around "how" that assertion is true? We don't know whether that assertion is true, and to begin by assuming it is but admitting you don't know "how" betrays that your worldview is built on faith in this assertion.

Structures rot only to be replaced with similar structures. You see the degredation of a power structure and a social system, and you see it as this irrevocable moral failing. Ancient greek? Latin? Old English? Middle English?) inevitably was the bastard of whatever it grew out of. Are there periods in the degeneration of old structures? Absolutely. But they aren't irreversible and whinging over their loss excessively is to be a big fat pussy. If you really want to preserve your culture have a family already and retire from the culture war. Why isn't spite considered a sin in the Christian ethical sphere?

wrath, lust, greed, gluttony, pride, envy, sloth
are the seven deadly sins.

But then there's blasphemy, and avarice.

But why doesn't spite figure into this? I saw someone in an Aquinas thread telling a gay person "you and your boyfriend are going to burn in hell, faggot." and I thought to myself "Well this is very standard 4chan spite, but why isn't spite considered a sin?"

Why aren't spite and hatred considered sinful? They're a form of excess. They aren't violent like wrath is, but longing for the torture and destruction of others, even if they are unethical in your eyes, has to be something God looks down upon. Why would God LONG FOR the destruction of his enemies? Spite is a sort of bastard child of wrath and avarice, and seems to me unholy.
