My favorite is definitely Edward Hopper. He's not so crazy and out of this world in terms of subject and talent as some of the other artists mentioned in this thread, but I've always really liked him.
I've always been drawn to art and literature from 1930s America. I love Steinbeck, Ansel Adams and others and I just find the Dust Bowl to be absolutely fascinating.
I appreciate Hopper's realism and simplistic depictions of Americans and the ambiguous emotions of the people and scenes he creates.
