He heard the noise and the bustle of his comrades as they moved about, and suddenly sprang up, and forgot to go to the long ladder that he might come down again, but fell headlong from the roof, and his neck [560] was broken away from the spine, and his spirit went down to the house of Hades.

Did anyone else think this was hilarious? This guy got so drunk he climbed on the roof and forgot he was up there are walked off the fucking edge and broke his neck. And no one even noticed! Only when they go to Hades do they even realise! "Oh look Elpenor is already here." Looking this lad up I see a lot of people have written about him, he must have struck a chord.
