I don't know why the hell you're even talking about standalones and episodic TV series with such vigor. We were talking about fantasy novel length, never about anything else. If you're confused about what I said about how you can read most Gemmell and Pratchett books "as standalones", then you're either an ESL or just acting retarded on purpose. Saying that you can read them "as standalones" does not mean I'm literally calling them standalones. I can use a broom "as" an arm to reach something that fell and rolled under my bed and not go around saying it's literally an arm. As for what you said about length...
