The book I always recommend is the Art of Fiction by John Gardner

Great exercises, great thoughts about what fiction is supposed to do, etc.

amazon used would be cheap.

write 1000 words a day and do the Gardner exercises
you will then decide if fiction is for you

Three Literature stores closed with the last 6 months in my neighborhood. Cheaper, better written Literature is being produced in China and India at half the cost of producing it here in the USA.

Feels bad man.

I was taught to read the Intros or Prefaces so I always do.

Got a Kindle for Xmas and am adding classics I haven't read. Books without Intros are usually free, but with Intros are usually $.99.
I pay the $.99 cause I like some background before I start.
