Yes it does. The problem is that fantasy readership is mostly comprised of neckbeards with low standards who will read anything with dragons and hawt nakid chixx in it.

The visual arts are a much better fit for fantasy and science fiction, but you're kidding yourself if you think there aren't any good fantasy stories out there.
