What are some books that are actually scary?

The only book i have read so far that really made me feel uneasy was Stephen Kings IT.

The book was to emphasize the importance of a persons's duty to society. the book did not portray a militaristic society, but a liberal one during wartime, with the rules of citizenship changed to resemble something more like south korea or switzerland, but even more open as to how one renders civil service. The book is neither a cautionary tale or an advocacy, it's a coming of age tale that's been poisoned by a terrible film adaptation.
