the gay one will probably have a lot of quality authors, but could be derailed by a faggy teacher with an axe to grind (then again, that's any class)

afro-am should involve baldwin, who is masterful, and probably hughes, hurston, haley, and ellison. there are far worse ways to spend a semester. if you see beatty's "the white boy shuffle" on the list, it might actually be a fun class.

the woman-centric ones--i'll admit i'm being a reactionary evil straight male here--scream "teacher with an axe to grind" to me. there are some cool female authors, though.

only native am author I've read is alexie, whom I enjoyed.
